IBEMA WINS THE PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR FOR SOCIAL-ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

The Anave association annually gives the Homage of the Year Award. This prize marks an acknowledgment to companies and personalities that have somehow contributed to the evolution of paper and pulp segment. Ibema was held worthy to receive the Homage of the Year Award – Anave 2009 at the category Personality of the Year – Social-Environmental Management with its President, Mr. Rui Gerson Brandt.
Such a remark takes into account the relevant actuation of the company in social-environmental aspects, considering the actions and the results obtained. Ibema has recently received the FSC seal. The selection is based on the analysis by a internal commission from the association staffing six people from the Executive Directorship and the Superior Council.
This commission carried out a surveillance in the press and assessed the indications made by entities related to the segment, selecting the three most voted and at the final stage, along with the members of Superior Council and Executive Directorship, they elected the deserving personality.
The main factors that Anave association has noticed are that in its management, in order to answer to the dynamic packaging, printing and writing papers' Brazilian market, Ibema has got the way to follow the market's diapason and pursued the harmony among environment, production and community aspects.
Ibema received the FSC certification granting it to have an accurate track (traceability) of the products offered to its customers. More over, it has developed an already-at-use clean energy source to offer sustainable products, with the lesser environmental impact it could be, and has also created a line of papers produced from clippings, once again pursuing respect toward Nature by reducing the impact of paper usage in its entire life cycle. In summary, for all actions carried out by Ibema, today it is clearly possible to notice its commitment with environment, conciliating the shareholders' interests with the social-economic benefits that the company brought to the region. The ceremony for the prize giving happened on last December 3rd and was held at Hotel Maksoud Plaza, in Sao Paulo, with a celebration dinner.
